Extemporaneous Speaking
Please note: 4n6u is in transition. We are working on getting content up as quickly as we can, but we have very grand plans, and we are a volunteer program. Please be patient with us as we start to get things up as efficiently as possible.
Brief Overview
Extemporaneous is one of the limited preparation events that requires students to have a new speech every single round. The premise is simple: Students are given 1-3 questions in 'Extemp Prep' in which they are then asked to take 30 minutes to prepare a 7 minute speech answering the question they are given.
The most time intensive component to Extemporaneous Speaking is probably the filing of articles and information. The integration of the laptop cut down on this hassle significantly, but there are still lots of decisions to make, such as how to store and organize your files, and the best ways to make them accessible to everyone on your extemp squad. We recommend Dropbox, that way the files update across all the computers using the files at once, and double filing becomes less likely. An organizational chart for these files can be found below.
